About Our Program

Like many high quality private Christian schools in the area, we use A Beka Curriculum and Textbooks in our classrooms. What makes us different is how we use them. Please read the information on our Curriculum for more information.

20-To-One Class Size

Because of our low student/teacher ratio, your child won't fall through the cracks. At Rancho Capistrano Christian School, we maintain 20-to-one teacher to student ratio in all of our academic classes. Your children benefit from this ratio from Kindergarten through Eighth grade. Public Schools are struggling to maintain 20 to 1 in grades 3 for the fall.

Cursive Writing

Our Kindergarten students begin learning printing and cursive writing. We feel that the fine motor skills and patience that result from a child mastering cursive writing pay dividends for years.

Hands on Math

Our students participate in a variety of hands on math activities to address the various learning styles of our students. Memorization is important but not at the expense of understanding.

Daily Bible Class

We begin each day in prayer and study so your child will share your values.

Large Classrooms

Our students have room to create, build and breathe in our classrooms. A small class size helps no one if you are cramped.

Cross Grade Ability Grouping

We schedule reading and math at the same time each day to allow students to be moved up a grade, if need be, keeping them challenged.

Close Teacher/Parent Communication

We send home weekly homework packets to keep you current with your child's progress. Parents are encouraged to help out in the classroom or drop by for a visit anytime for open observation.

Literature

We use literature which helps students grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually by demonstrating values and character.

Reading

We have a reading help class in the afternoon to help students who are behind in phonics or comprehension.

Enrichment Programs:

To enhance the academic experience, our students receive instruction in the following areas from specialty teachers: (including Kindergarten students).

  • Performing Arts Enrichment (Music, Voice, Musical Theater).

  • Art Enrichment (Visual Arts, Photography, Crafts, and Multi-Media).

  • Language Enrichment (Spanish).

  • Technology Enrichment (Computer Lab).

Visual Art

Our weekly Art class exposes the students to a variety of mediums and projects from "Meet the Masters" to bamboo painting with bamboo sticks harvested on our own 170 acre park-like campus.

Performing Arts

Our school has two musical performances each year open to all students.

2003 - 2004 Productions
"Christ Pagent"
"Jail House Rock"

Praise Band

Middle School students can participate in our Praise Band. Bring your electric guitar or keyboard and join us.

Physical Education

Rancho Capistrano Christian School believes in the total body. We want to enrich your child's mind, body and spirit. For this reason we have Physical Education on a daily basis. These classes are structured and participation is required. We participate in the Presidential Fitness Program as well as the Jump for Heart program. The students are taught the fundamentals of each sport that they participate in and written tests are also given to help them learn the rules of each sport. We teach the value of sportsmanship, fair play, and teamwork.

Athletics

Rancho Capistrano Christian School participates in the Parochial Athletic League of Orange County. We play boys flag football, basketball and volleyball. Girls play volleyball, basketball, and softball.

Home School Enrichment Program

RCCS has an exciting Flex Program of special interest to families who home school their children. The Home School Enrichment Program is designed for 5th - 8th grade students who are home schooled. This program allow parents to work at home with their children for the core academics programs. Students join us during lunch for socialization followed by Physical Education. This is a great program for parents who plan on having their child attend public or private high school. It gradually brings them into structured academics.

Missions Outreach

At Rancho Capistrano Christian School we participate in various ministry outreach programs. In many countries around the world, some people are unable to walk like others, and do not have the funds to purchase wheelchairs. Because of friends like you, they can have a brand new way to get from place to place. The "Wheels for the World" organization provides wheelchairs to developing countries around the world, where the cost of a wheel chair can be as much as an entire year's income. Each wheel chair recipient also receives a Bible in their own language.

This year, Rancho Capistrano Christian School participated in this mission project. Students saved their dimes, nickels, quarters and bills! It takes $150 to sponsor one wheelchair. Every dollar donated helped to change someone's life forever. We were able to sponsor five wheel chairs this year through the generous donations of our students and staff. Other Missions Outreach projects have been beach clean-ups, food drives for the rescue mission, aid to fire victims, and more.
