Springfest – Camps Preview Evening Discovery Day Camps (5-14 yrs) Where Campers discover the wonders of Rancho Capistrano's beautiful property, make new friends, learn new things, and have fun all Summer long! June 23, 2008 - Aug. 22, 2008 $205 per week - for the 1st Camper The following is a summary of activities and speakers planned for each week of camp. Each day will include: pool time, lake experience (canoeing and fishing), arts & crafts, and fun field games. Special speakers and events are subject to change. Week 1 • June 23 – 27 • “Summer Kickoff- Fun in the Sun is the theme for this week. Activities include extended pool activities, team building and games that will start the summer off right. Top teams get an ice cream party! Speakers and exhibitions include police officers, firefighters, and a terrific “magic show.” Week 2 • June 3- July 3 • - Celebrate the 4th with costumes, patriotic arts & crafts, sing-a-longs and a parade. Dress up as your favorite American hero and celebrate in style! Speakers include a true FBI Agent and members of the Armed Forces. (No camp on July 4th) Week 3 • July 7-11 • “Water Works” - get wet and wild with our annual beach ball water sports, balloon races and camp wet zone. Enjoy extended pool time games, water balloon antics and beach themed activities plus special events and speakers. Week 4 • July 14-18 • - Meet the friendly and fun mammals, reptiles, and insects that make our world a better place. These “creepy crawlers” will amaze you with their intellect and engaging nature. Campers will find new ways to “talk to the animals.” Speakers include the “Lizard Lady” - get a hands-on experience with birds & reptiles! Week 5 • July 21-25 • Win gold, in our annual “Ranch Camp Olympics.” Swimming, fishing, canoeing and field game activities highlight this week. Exclusive arts and crafts activities, outdoor games and fun awards will be part of the Olympic Experience. Week 6 • July 28-Aug 1 • eek 6 - Got Talent? Songs, skits, movies with popcorn and a talent show. A true theatre experience in our auditorium with stage, sound system and projector. A special talent show with prizes, extended movie time and themed arts/crafts. Meet the real stars “up close and personal” in our portable planetarium. Who will be “Americas Next Top Camper”? Week 7 • Aug 4-8 • A true “Sportscenter” experience. Extended field games and camp activities. Prizes awarded each day to campers with the best spirit, attitude and performance. The week includes special speakers and events featuring extreme sports. Week 8 • Aug 11-15 • Enjoy “Under the Sea” a fun ocean adventure that will excite campers of all ages. Extended lake activities and under water pool games are highlights of this week. A visit from the “Aquarium of the Pacific,” hands on educational program with an auditorium presentation and a mobile tide pool too! Week 9 • Aug 18-22 • Discover the challenges of the Ranch. Experience a wide range of activities that will turn you into a “Survivor Hero”- including an obstacle course, field games, the challenge course experience, adventure hikes, a tug of war tournament. Guest speakers and coaches who are experts in their field. For academic camps, afternoon discovery camp option is available from 1-4pm for an additional $98 per week.
